Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Not all National Trust properties are open yet, and those that are require pre-booking via their website, no later than 15:00 on the day prior to visit.

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.

Knole

As the bulbs start to emerge and the birds start to sing again, we’re waking up Knole for a new season of showroom opening. As you approach the house along the narrow, twisting drive, it looms large amid acres of medieval deer park.  Take in the landscape which has remained unchanged for centuries and keep your eyes peeled for our famous ancient deer herd.In the showrooms, where the conservation team have spent the wet winter painstakingly cleaning and protecting the precious wonders of Knole’s collection, you can see the labours of their love.  Spend time taking in the grand and atmospheric rooms full of curiosities and rarities, for which Vita Sackville-West felt such affection. Catch glimpses of the start of the five-year conservation project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which will see Knole’s collection protected for future generations.  Walk in the footsteps of the archbishops, Tudor monarchs and the Jacobean nobles of the Sackville family who have called Knole their home. In Green Court, enjoy a new year of exhibitions in the Orangery; visit our shop, with its array of keepsakes to remind you of your visit and drop in at the Estate Office where our oral history exhibition rings with the voices of those who have lived and worked at Knole since the turn of the 20th century.  Back in the park, take time to reflect on this vast place with a warm drink and a snack from our new, temporary Outdoor Café.  A day of discovery awaits you at Knole, we hope to see you soon.
